Meet the Author
I’m Sebastian Hockaday, a 24 year old self-published author from the UK. I had to juggle my degree studies in International Business with my book publishing journey – unsurprisingly this was often a challenge!
However, I persevered and published my book in 2014… and graduated in 2015!
I spent my childhood in Ireland. I loved growing up in Ireland and have many fond memories. The vibrant colours and the magical feeling of the Irish countryside was a huge source of inspiration for Bella Boo and Bloomer Fen!
The inspiration for the book was my little sister, Bella, who was four years old at the time.
The message of the book is about building confidence and self-belief in children to overcome challenges.
When I was in primary school I found maths really tricky.
I remember seeing my brother playing outside with our friends and I felt like I was missing out on all the fun because I was stuck inside trying to do my maths homework.
But slowly I started to build my confidence and believe I could do it. With encouragement and support from my family and my maths teachers I was able to understand the questions in front of me and believing I could do them, I discovered I was able to solve out the problems!
I hope you enjoy the book as much as I enjoyed writing it 🙂
